Protein Shake Tips
Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry can get boring, but little modifications can help keep it fresh so mix it up! Try some of the suggestions below if you find yourself needing a change.
Enhance the Flavor
Try adding 1-2 drops of different extracts – remember a little goes a long way! A few suggestions to get you started:
- Peppermint extract + chocolate protein shake
- Orange extract + vanilla protein shake
- Banana extract + decaf coffee + chocolate protein powder
- Almond extract + vanilla protein shake
Sugar free syrups offer even more variety. Sugar free syrup made by Da Vinci Gourmet or Torani are often used to flavor coffee drinks but work great to modify your protein shakes too.
Use crystal light or similar calorie free powders or drops
- Sugar free lemonade + strawberry protein shake
- Sugar free fruit punch + water + unflavored protein powder
Spices – think a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice to top off a vanilla protein shake! Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, apple pie spice would all work as well.
Fat free, sugar free pudding mix – Add 1 tablespoon of the instant pudding mix to your protein shake, try cheesecake or pistachio into vanilla protein shake for something different.
Change the Temperature
Add your shake to a blender with ice
Try freezing into “protein pops” using popsicle molds (insert photo?)
Have you tried the Chicken Soup flavored protein powder by Unjury? Heat up a warm mug to help with protein intake and give yourself a break from the sweetness.
