Hand Surgery

The hand is a unique area of the human body made up of bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, skin, and blood vessels. When a problem arises, care must be given to all the different types of tissues that make the hand function.

Our hand surgeons have expertise with problems of the hand, wrist, elbow, arm, and shoulder. Most patients are treated with non-surgical care first. This could be injections, medications, splinting, casting, or physical or occupational therapy.

Jim Lambert wrist surgery patient story

Wrist Surgery

While Jim was lifting a 180 pound barbell, his left wrist got stuck between his body and the bar. He heard and felt a pop and in 30 seconds his wrist swelled to twice its size. For Jim, a serious amateur athlete who competes at the national level for Olympic weightlifting, this injury was catastrophic. Jim saw Dr. Dietz in Milford Regional’s emergency department and the doctor explained that Jim needed emergency surgery. Read Jim’s story.
