Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Held for Milford Regional's Newest Community-Based Satellite Location in Medway

Nearly 50 people attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Milford Regional’s newest community-based satellite location—Milford Regional in Medway. Representatives from Milford Regional Physician Group, Milford Regional Medical Center, Lobisser & Ferreira, as well as state legislators and Medway town officials were present for the March 13 event.

The new 22,000 square-foot healthcare facility, located at 68A Main St. in Medway, will offer adult and pediatric care; obstetrics and gynecology; urgent care and laboratory and X-ray services. The facility will provide expanded healthcare to Medway and neighboring communities.

Services at Milford Regional in Medway will have a phased-in opening with family medicine and laboratory opening March 18. Pediatrics will open March 25 and Women’s Health will open its doors on April 8. Urgent care and X-ray are scheduled to open after the summer.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony began with opening remarks from Milford Regional Physician Group President Patrick McSweeney, MD, who discussed his meaningful connection to Medway, having been raised in the community and practiced medicine in the town for 15 years. McSweeney acknowledged the look and architecture of the building as a perfect fit for the town. “Combine that with the first-rate medical providers who will be practicing here and the convenient lab and X-ray facilities—it’s just a homerun for the town of Medway,” he said.

McSweeney also recognized Lobisser Companies President Kevin Lobisser and Lobisser & Ferreira Construction Corporation President Joe Ferreira for the quality of their work, making certain the project was completed on time and within budget.

Milford Regional Medical Center President and CEO Edward Kelly spoke about the strong partnership between Milford Regional Medical Center and Milford Regional Physician Group. “It’s really that teamwork that has made us special and allowed us to grow,” he said. Kelly added that the new Medway facility represents the core mission of Milford Regional, which is serving the community. “Today is a great day of satisfaction and a reminder of Milford Regional’s community-focused mission.”

Milford Regional Board Vice Chair and Building Committee Chair Brian Earley discussed the Board of Trustees overwhelming support for the project to bring healthcare services to Medway. “Milford Regional in Medway builds upon the success of our other satellite locations established in Milford, Hopkinton, Northbridge and Franklin,” he said. “Medical services are a very  important anchor in our central Massachusetts towns, and this new 22,000 square-foot amazing facility is the embodiment and vision for successful, compassionate healthcare for the residents of Medway.”

Medway Town Manager Michael Boynton also offered remarks on the positive collaboration between Milford Regional and Medway town officials. “We were standing here on a pile of dirt ten months ago, and now this project is open and ready for business. This is awesome,” he said.

State Reps. Jeffrey Roy, Michael Soter, Brian Murray and Momina Haidri, district liaison for Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka, presented citations from the Massachusetts legislature commemorating the event.

The remarks and ceremonial ribbon cutting were followed by attendees touring the new facility.
